Last night was the seventh game of the American League Championship Series, and with the Red Sox having come all the way back from a 3-1 deficit to force a seventh game and the team sitting one win away from a return to the World Series, it was the thing to watch all across New England. The news reported this morning that over 80% of all televisions in the Boston area were tuned in to the game last night. Tickets, of course, are pretty hard to come by. So we rigged up a little something special to watch the game ourselves.
Over the weekend we had a harvest party at the church for our kids and the neighbors. I think it was a real success, a lot of fun, and for it we put up the church's big overhead tent on the front lawn. We left it up Saturday night and after Boston won that night forcing a seventh game, Tim and Jeff came up with another use for the tent. They set up the church's digital projector and a projection screen under the tent, wired out a cable feed and some surround sound, set up some chairs and invited people over.
The weather has been unseasonably warm the last couple of days and last night was cool but beautiful. The sky was clear, full moon and crisp air, and just to keep warm Tim built a bonfire in his outdoor fire pit. It was good fun, and of course more fun because the Sox stuck it to them. Addison even got to stay up a little late for his first playoff baseball game, though he was sound asleep for hours before Coco Crisp ran down the last out, crashing into the wall in Fenway's center field. World Series starts Wednesday. I guess we'll have to leave up the tent.

ReplyDeleteAh, that was a great evening! We need to do more stuff like this, eh? Over the top, making memories as we go along. Great photos, too. Let us covenant together not just to live, but to live memorably! I'm so thankful that your family is going to put up with us and this East Coast thing a while longer ...
