My little girl, it has seemed like weeks that I have been waiting for your exit. My body seems to be in constant change as I try to patiently await for the real thing. This morning I woke up and happened to check out facebook before even climbing out of bed - first thing I read is that your cousin is making her debut into the world. When, oh when will you come?
After actually climbing out bed I head into the bathroom where I discovering I am bleeding - bright red blood. That's bad right? I call our friend, the nurse, and she tells me that yes, I probably should make a call to the midwives. I do and they tell me to come on in. We call friends and family along they way and everyone starts praying. What is going on?
Once checked they reassure me it is normal bleeding as I am continuing to dialate. I ask, well since I am already here and now 6 days past due date, could I please have a gel insert to see if that will help kick me into real labor? They agree and daddy takes me to the mall to walk around. We do a lot of that that day. Walking, walking, walking in the heat. We go home to see Addison who is staying with Cousin Calla and Aunt Juanita. On the way home my contractions really kick into high gear (or so I thought!) and daddy is tempted to turn around and take me back to the hospital.
We visit for awhile at home while continuing to contract and then head back to Beverly to have dinner and do more walking. Around 9pm I am just exhausted but nothing major is happening. We call the midwives and they tell me to just go home and rest, so back to Gloucester we go.
That night I take a benedryl to sleep, shower and toss and turn all night. At 5 am I call Grammy and Papa and tell them that I'm going to the hospital - I think it's FINALLY time! We pack up again and wait for Aunt Juanita and Cousin Calla to come and stay with Addison then we head to the hospital.

As we drive into Beverly, we are commenting on a what a beautiful day it is and how it would make a lovely day for a little girl's birthday. We were checked in and determined that I was about 4 1/2 cm dialated. After a little breakfast we went walking around the hospital. It was a Sunday so the place was very empty and quiet. We spent a lot of time out in the garden walking and talking. I was so excited to meet you!
At noon we went back to our room and Terri Allen (who also delivered Addison) checked me and said I was only about a 5. I was sooooooooooooo disappointed and started crying. She said I could go back home, stay and keep waiting or she could break my water since you were low and ready and we could see what happened. At that point, WE WERE NOT GOING HOME and I was tired and done "waiting to see what happened" so I opted for the water breaking. I ordered some lunch to arrive and she did the deed and told me that I should then go walking some more. Well, when that water broke there was no going anywhere! and definitely no eating!!!
