More House Before and Afters!!

I had begun showing some before and after pictures of our new home now that we've been in it for over a year, but I hadn't gotten to any of the upstairs.  I really like the changes to the bathroom and our bedroom, but already have more in mind for next year.

This is dad whitewashing the floor in our bedroom.  These hard wood floors could be redone, but there is a big patch of plywood in one area (that our bed hides) and I kind of like the all white look...EXCEPT we didn't use a high gloss paint and now I already want to redo them.  Every time I see a picture of a painted floor with high gloss, I get green with envy.  Whatever we use shows up dirty feet marks, is hard to wash and sweep, and I just don't love it.  The little doorway you see there goes into what originally was a bathroom, that kind of became a walk-in closet and was changed by my husband into his "secret office"  :)

This is a peak into the space before he did anything with it...

...And a bit of a look after.  It's bigger than this, but hard to get a good picture.

More Befores:

And After...

I love the blue on the walls and of course, the huge windows just like the rest of the house.  The light airy curtains you can barely see when the shades are open and the sun is shining through.

That weird little window on the side of the bed bugs me, but it's also nice to have a breeze blow in.  On the list for next year is a jute rug, a bigger mirror over the dresser and new lamps.  I would also love a little reading chair for over by the bookshelf.  I will have to wait for a new season of yard sales and flea markets!

THE BATHROOM (upstairs)
This is the only functioning bathroom in our house right now but wasn't even available when we moved in.  Thankfully, Addison wasn't into the thick of potty training at that point, cause we would have had to run up to the third floor apartment to get him there in time!  As it was, it was tricky for awhile living down here but using the apartment bathroom.  There used to be a stacked washer and dryer here, but that was replaced by some wonderful shelves and our laundry was moved down off the kitchen.

The biggest job in there was the ceiling.  It had to be completely ripped out and replaced because of mold.  This is a huge bathroom and we are very blessed to have the space!

(Another Before)

(Afters)

And here are a few of the after shots.  As you can see, I took these around Christmas time, but nothing really has changed since then (besides the decorations coming down!)  SOMEDAY I would love to change out the flooring but for next year, I would be happy with getting a big antique armoir for where the laundry sorter is and possibly painting the sink vanity a fun blue color.  We'll see!!!

Next up, Addison's room!!!
