Addison helped me make and decorate some cookies and then some chex mix for our neighbors. Before the snowstorm we got out as a family to deliver them. Grammie and Papa got in on the decorating action too!!! Addison's favorite part was mixing up the colors for the frosting. (The cookies pictured were Addison's very own.)
Addison and Grammy's Great Gingerbread Adventure
Addison was very excited for Grammy to get here and make a gingerbread house with him this year. I have my own wonderful memories of making and decorating with my mom when I was little. We always used grahm crackers and made a village with a house, candy store and church. So when mom showed up with a gingerbread kit, I was a bit disappointed. A kit! That's not how we do it! But...with a three year old, I think mom made a pretty good decision. As it was, the roof kept sliding off and finally broke in half. They had to mend it back together with lots of "glue" and candy wafers. In the end, it turned out great, even though I don't have a picture here. Addison is excited to put it out tomorrow as a gift to the birds!
Our First Snow Storm of the Year!
We were all so excited for the snow to come. We made it to the market on Saturday to get what we needed for soup and the walkways, then we waited! First, it was supposed to come at 4pm then 7pm then midnight. Justin and I thought about staying up to see it start. Since it didn't start till 3am, I am glad we passed up this idea! But waking Sunday morning to the snowfall was very exciting! We ate breakfast together and had our advent story, then planned our day.

Celebrating Advent
This year we started a new tradition, lighting the advent candle and doing a few readings and songs every Sunday. This week was the last week of advent and to celebrate, we had a picnic on the floor in front of the tree with lights and music. It's been really special to have my mom and dad here to celebrate with us. Mom and Addison made a manger scene under the tree with some of Addison's toys. Now, we look forward to lighting the Jesus candle on Christmas morning.
CHRISTMAS EVE!!
What a wonderful day. We started off by waking up to the delicious smells of Justin's cinnamon rolls baking away. We read our last story of advent and ate a very yummy breakfast. While the rest of us got ready for the day and Eli napped, Addison and Grammie made Jesus' birthday cake! Then it was off to Rockport for a little window shopping and hot cocoa. We ended the day with a beautiful candlelight service at church and then some Thai food for the adults. Addison is ready and excited to celebrate Jesus' birthday tomorrow...at this point, he really does know what to expect for the day. It is sweet simple excitement.
