SNOW!

We've had little snows here and there this winter, but now it's official: We are in the midst of our "first big storm". It started at 1 this afternoon and it's been coming down steady ever since. I just did a preliminary step-shoveling, and we've probably got about 8 inches now and it's still coming down strong.

All of our obligations are canceled for the night. I left work a little early to make sure I could get the car up the hill, and Kellie picked up a few groceries to "get us through the storm". Kellie stopped by the Market Basket and found a madhouse; all the carts were in use, all of the registers were backed way up, and in fact the lines stretched to the back of the store wrapping around past the produce. She decided just to come home and stop by a smaller grocery store here in Gloucester. Good choice.

The news reports say that we're supposed to stay cold up to Saturday night when another storm blows in, then the temperatures drop off the charts. All of which means - perhaps we'll be having a white Christmas. It would be my first, as I've always been in Oregon that time of year, except for last year which was so warm it felt like spring.

Not this year. At least I hope not. Let it snow I say. As for Addison, he was a little unsure about it. He wasn't quite sure what all this white, cold stuff was, especially when his mother tossed a pile of it on the lap of his snow suit. But he warmed up to it after a moment or two. Tomorrow, perhaps, we break out his sled.
